Part 1 of #GOALS
Josh Canizaro
April 23, 2017
(Jeremiah 29:11 NIV) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
(Matthew 20:26 NKJV) Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.
Problems With Greatness
We believe desiring to be great is a product of pride.
We aren’t great in every area of our lives.
We don’t see greatness as a possibility.
The DNA of Greatness
1. We were made from greatness.
(Psalm 145:3 NKJV) Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.
(Genesis 1:26-27 NKJV) Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
(1 John 4:4 NKJV) You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
2. We must steward greatness.
(2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
3. God restores greatness.
(James 4:10 NIV) Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
(1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV) Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
