Who is God?

Part 1 of Fresh Start
Josh Canizaro
January 7, 2018
(Proverbs 4:23 GN) “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
(2 Corinthians 11:3-4 NLT) “But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.”
✓ A different Jesus.
✓ A different Spirit.
✓ A different Gospel.
Fresh Start With God
(Luke 4:14-17 NLT) ’Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone. When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written.
(Luke 4:18 NKJV) ’“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
(Luke 4:19-22 NKJV/NLT) “Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips. “How can this be?” they asked. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”'
1. Salvation
(Luke 4:18 NKJV) ’“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me... to preach the gospel to the poor.”
(2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT) “For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.”
2. Inner Healing
(Luke 4:18 NKJV) ’“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me... to heal the brokenhearted.”
(Psalms 147:3 NLT) “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”
3. Freedom
(Luke 4:18 NKJV) ’“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me... to proclaim liberty to the captives.”
(Galatians 5:1 NIV) “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
4. Physical Healing
(Luke 4:18 NKJV) “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me... for the recovery of sight to the blind.”
(Mathew 8:16-17 NLT) “That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick. This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”
(1 Peter 2:24 NLT) “He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.”
5. The Anointing of the Holy Spirit
(Luke 4:18 NKJV) “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me.”
Acts 10:38 NLT) “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”
