“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” — Revelation 12:11 (NIV)
Sharing your testimony isn’t about having the perfect story — it’s about telling people what Jesus has done in your life in a way that feels real and relatable. Your story carries power because it points to what Jesus has done in you, and God can use it to bring hope to someone who needs it.
Here’s a simple way to think about sharing your testimony:
1. Before Jesus — What Your Life Looked Like
Describe what life was like before you truly walked with Jesus.
- What were you searching for?
- What was broken, confusing, or missing?
- What struggles or questions defined that season?
This builds connection — everyone knows what it feels like to need hope.
2. How You Met Jesus — The Turning Point
Share the moment, experience, or conversation that led you to Him.
- Did someone invite you to church?
- Did a message speak directly to your situation?
- Did you hit a moment where you needed God more than anything else?
- Or was it a slow journey where God kept drawing you in?
Explain what made you realize you needed Jesus.
3. After Jesus — How Your Life Has Changed
Show the impact of following Him:
- New peace
- New purpose
- Freedom from old patterns
- Healing
- A new way of thinking, living, or loving others
- Strength in your everyday life
This is where people see the evidence of God’s grace.
4. Keep It Simple, Honest, and Real
Your testimony doesn’t have to be dramatic. It just has to be true.
Be yourself. Be honest. Keep it clear enough for someone to follow in a minute or two.
5. Always Point Back to Jesus
Finish by giving God the glory:
“If Jesus could do this in my life, He can do it in yours too.”
Your story is a doorway that helps others see Him.
6. Write It Out and Practice
Use the three-part outline:
- Before Jesus
- How I Met Jesus
- After Jesus
Practice sharing it so you’re ready when God opens the door.
