“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38 NIV
“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.” 2 Corinthians 7:10-11 NIV

Worldly sorrow brings death. Godly sorrow brings repentance.
Repentance — is a lifestyle of changing the direction of my heart, mind and habits to reflect Jesus Christ.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Acts 3:19 NIV
1. Listen for discipline.
“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” Revelation 3:19 NIV
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”” Hebrews 12:5-6 NIV
2. Learn from your mistakes.
“God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.” Acts 17:30 NLT
“Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.” Revelation 2:5 NIV
3. Lean in to grace.
““The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”” Mark 1:15 NIV
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 NIV
4. Live an accountable life.
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16 NLT
5. Lead others to repentance.
“In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” Luke 15:7 NLT
