God Sets Us Apart
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT
“Thus you shall bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them: The LORD bless you, and keep you; The LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace. So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” Numbers 6:22-27 NASB/NIV
“You shall keep My statutes and practice them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you.” Leviticus 20:8 NASB
“Jehovah M'kaddesh”: The Lord who makes us holy.
Benefit: I am set apart for God’s purpose.
“For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” Romans 7:22-24 NIV
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God... For sin shall not be your master.” Romans 6:12-14 NIV
✓ Debauchery — extreme indulgence in sensuality.
“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”
Ephesians 5:18 NIV
✓ Sexual immorality
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever
sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 NIV
“Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”” Genesis 4:6-7 NASB
The Lord Who Sanctifies
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV
1. My body is the place where God dwells.
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.” Matthew 6:22-23 NIV
Application: Detox and de-clutter.
2. My body belongs to God.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 NIV
Application: Worship and daily surrender.
3. My body was made to honor God.
“Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God.” Romans 6:13 NLT
Application: Stand up for righteousness and God’s purpose.
“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.” John 17:17-19 NASB
