Am I an Accident?

Part 6 of I Don't Know What I Believe

(James 1:5 NIV) If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Am I an accident?
A purpose to fulfill.
(Romans 8:28 NASB) And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
A gift to give to the world.
(1 Corinthians 7:7 NLT) But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another.
A role to play.
(1 Corinthians 3:5 HCSB) What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, and each has the role the Lord has given.
(Acts 17:26 NIV84) From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the set times for them and the exact places they should live.
Living On Purpose
1. Follow my gift.
(1 Timothy 4:14 ESV) Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you.
(Proverbs 18:16 NKJV) A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.
2. Find Godly friends and mentors.
(Proverbs 20:5 NIV84) The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.
(1 Timothy 4:6 ESV) If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.
3. Faithfully steward my role.
(1 Timothy 4:15 ESV) Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress.
(1 Peter 4:10 NIV84) Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.
4. Fulfill our purpose.
(Matthew 28:19-20 NLT) Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
