(Hebrews 12:2-3 NASB) Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
(John 19:30 NIV) “It is finished.”
(Luke 1:68 NAS) Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people.
Principle #6: Be confident that there is a purpose and an end.
Mission Confusion
(Luke 24:13-17 NIV) Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk along?" They stood still, their faces downcast.
Things don’t go as planned.
Life doesn’t make sense.
We forget the truth.
Be Confident
(Proverbs 4:23 GN) “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
(2 Timothy 1:12 NIV) “I am suffering...Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.”
1. I know that God loves me.
(Lamentations 3:21-23 NIV) “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
2. I know that God wants the best for me.
(2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV) “For no matter how many promises God has made they are yes in Christ.”
(Matthew 7:11 NIV) “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
3. I know that God has a plan for me.
(Psalm 33:11 NIV) But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
(Psalm 126:5-6 NIV) “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.”
(Romans 8:28 NIV) “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
4. I know that God will bring me through.
(2 Timothy 4:18 NIV) “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
(Psalm 30:5 NIV) “Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”
(Philippians 1:6 NAS) “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
