Part 3 of #GOALS

(Genesis 2:15-17 NIV) "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.””
(Genesis 3:1-5 NIV) "Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.””
Comparison Starts
With what we look at.
(Genesis 3:6 NLT) "The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.”
With what we listen to.
(Genesis 3:14 NLT) "Then the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live.”
(Proverbs 16:18 NLT ) "Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.”
(Proverbs 14:30 NLT) A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.”
Stop Comparison
1. Listen to what God says about you.
(Genesis 3:11 NLT) "Who told you that you were naked?” the LORD God asked. Who told you were lacking?
(Isaiah 42:1 NASB) "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations. "
2. Look within you, instead of around you.
"What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.” "Self-pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything good in the world.” - Helen Keller
(Proverbs 12:12 NLT) “Thieves are jealous of each other’s loot, but the godly are well rooted and bear their own fruit.”
