Reason Why We Don’t
✓ Because we didn’t know we were supposed to fish.
✓ Because we don’t know how to fish.
✓ Because we’re afraid to fish.
“Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”” Luke 5:10 NIV

1. Fishing is fun.
“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10 NIV
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NIV
2. Fishing is necessary.
“For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”” Romans 10:13-15 NLT
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV
3. Jesus asked us to go fishing.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19 NIV
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15 NIV
“It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’” Luke 24:47 NLT
Jesus said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”” John 20:21 NLT
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NIV
4. We were all fish once.
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all.” 2 Corinthians 5:14 NIV
