“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24 NKJV
“He [Jesus] answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”” Matthew 19:4-6 NKJV
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” Hebrews 13:4 NIV
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
✓ Promises aren’t a substitute for preparation.
✓ Don’t commit to a person yet, commit to a process.
“The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.” Proverbs 14:8 NIV
✓ Prudent people look at your past. Foolish people look at your promise.
1. Deal with your issues.
2. Break your bad habits.
3. Don’t dress like a commodity or put up with being treated like one.
4. Deal with lust.
5. Postpone the physical component of your relationship for as long as possible.
1. Don’t window shop.
“Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness.” Matthew 6:22 NLT
2. Understand that adultery can happen to you.
“When you are tempted…” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
3. Schedule romance.
“The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs.!The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.!Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 NLT
4. Get good advice not sinful sympathizers.
5. Serve in church together.
