Why Were We Made?
(Proverbs 4:23 GN) “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
✓ My purpose isn’t an accident.
✓ My purpose isn’t to be alone.
✓ My purpose isn’t to be a punching bag.
✓ My purpose isn’t to do something I hate.
(John 10:10 NLT) “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
(Ephesians 2:10 NLT) “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
(Psalms 139:13-16 NLT) “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
(Jeremiah 1:4-5 MSG) “This is what God said: “Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations—that’s what I had in mind for you.”
Fresh Start With Purpose
(Romans 8:28 NLT) “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
(1 Corinthians 9:26 TLB) “So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to win. I’m not just shadow-boxing or playing around.”
1. Know God personally.
(James 4:8 NIV) “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”
2. Go public with God.
(1 Peter 3:21 LB) “In baptism we show that we have been saved from death and doom by the resurrection of Christ; not because our bodies are washed clean by the water but because in being baptized we are turning to God and asking him to cleanse our hearts from sin.”
3. Connect with God’s people.
(Ephesians 2:19 LB) “You are a member of God's very own family... and you belong in God's household with every other Christian.”
4. Discover God’s purpose.
(Ephesians 1:11-12 MSG ) “It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.”
5. Go all in.
(1 Peter 1:4-5 MSG) “Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand- new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven — and the future starts now!”
